Nature Stories in every Jewelley Piece

NIKOLAS DRETTAS JEWELRY
Biography
As a child, I grew up inside my mother’s jewellery workshop, surrounded by diamonds, gold, metals, ropes, and tools. Everything precious or ordinary felt like treasure to me. Travelling with her, visiting museums, observing exhibitions, and helping at her shows shaped my curiosity and creative imagination. These experiences became the foundation of my artistic journey.
Today, I am continuing this path in my own way: learning, experimenting, collaborating, and exploring my artistic identity through natural materials. I aim to build a practice rooted in emotion, craftsmanship, and storytelling, while honouring the early influences that introduced me to the world of jewellery.

Artist Statement
My work is deeply inspired by nature, memory, and the emotional charge held within natural forms. I work directly with materials such as wood, bark, rock, stone, pebbles and copper that carry their own history, texture, and energy. I am moved by the contrast between softness and roughness in nature: a delicate flower on a fragile branch can feel romantic, while the hardness of a rock can express strength, resilience, or rawness.
Each material I choose reflects something I want to communicate. Even when I create something smooth, polished, or mirror-like, I find ways to embed meaning whether it comes through a glossy surface, a rough break, or the cracks formed through time.
A significant influence for me is the transformation of sea-shaped stones the way water slowly erodes a rock, reshaping and softening its edges. This natural process mirrors the emotional experiences that shape us.
Through jewellery, I aim to translate these emotional states into wearable objects that hold both fragility and power. Every piece becomes a small storytelling object connected to nature, memory, and the passing of time
