Project Context:
This project introduced fundamental jewellery-making techniques through the design and making of a ring and a bangle. The brief encouraged material experimentation, technical skill development, and an understanding of how jewellery interacts with the body. Through research, drawing, and hands-on testing, the project focused on translating visual and material research into resolved wearable outcomes.
My Theme & Final Outcome:
My work was inspired by textures found in nature, specifically those seen in trees and bark. I explored the irregular, layered, and fragmented qualities of bark, translating these organic textures into metal form. Using copper combined with real bark, I developed a resolved ring and bangle that emphasise contrast between natural and man-made materials. The final pieces reflect an interest in surface, tactility, and the way natural forms can be reinterpreted through jewellery that responds directly to the body.
