Project Context:
This project focused on defining my emerging practice by identifying a specific audience and context for my work. The brief required independent research into exhibition, display, or market contexts, encouraging consideration of how jewellery or objects are presented, interpreted, and experienced by the public.
My Theme & Final Outcome:
My project was developed in response to a gallery and exhibition context, with a focus on erosion, geological time, and personal connection to landscape. The Weathered Rock Necklace is a sculptural piece inspired by the eroded rock formations of Hydra’s coastline, capturing the effects of wind, sea, and time through chased metal, patinated surfaces, and irregular faceting. Each element reflects the raw beauty of erosion, evoking memory, place, and geological change. Combining traditional silversmithing with natural symbolism, the necklace functions as both wearable and archaeological piece shaped by nature.
